PM Modi inaugurated Arunachal Pradesh’s first green field airport, Donny Polo Airport, in Tanager’s Helloing and a 600- MW Kaman hydropower station in West Kaman quarter on Saturday(November 19) in a major boost to connectivity and tourism.

The foundation stone for the airport was laid by PM Modi in February 2019. State governor Brig (Retd) Dr. B D Mishra said the airport will give easy traveling installations for investors and in medical extremities, besides, easing scholars studying in other countries and trippers.
Named after ‘Donny Polo’, the deity deified by the indigenous communities of the state, the airport will fulfil an important aspiration of the people of Arunachal Pradesh and upper Assam. It’ll be the third functional airport for Arunachal Pradesh, taking the total airport count in the North- East region to 16. From 1947 to 2014, only nine airfields were built in the North- East. In a short span of eight times since also, the Modi Government has built seven airfields in the North- East.

FEATURES OF DONYI POLO AIRPORT
The Donny Polo airport has been developed by the airfields Authority of India at an estimated cost of Rs 645 crore. It’ll have eight check-in counters and can accommodate 200 passengers during peak hours, the officers said.
Spread over a,100 sq m area, the Donny Polo airport will be equipped with all the ultramodern installations for passengers. It’ll have a,300 cadence-long runway suitable for wharf and take-off of Boeing 747, the officers said.

DOMESTIC BREAKOUTS CONNECTING ITANAGAR TO METROS
IndiGo Airlines will commence marketable breakouts from the airport on November 28.
Breakouts connecting Helloing, which is around 15 km from Itanagar, with Mumbai and Kolkata will operate diurnal barring Wednesday. Flying and Indigo have communicated with the Airport Authority of India(AAI) and have expressed interest in starting flight services. The AAI is hopeful of getting them on board to start operations, he said later.
