The country has come power surplus, we’ve connected the whole country into one grid, and strengthened the distribution system. These way have increased the power vacuity to 22 hours in pastoral areas and23.5 hours in civic areas. The coming step is to take it to 24X7 guaranteed power force at affordable price.
Union Govt Concern
Union Minister R K Singh has prompted countries to be financially feasible in view of the mounting outstanding pretenses of power generation companies. This will help attract investments in the power surplus and also profit the consumers through reduced cost of electricity and bettered consumer services, he said.
The suggestion came during a review meeting chaired by Singh with fresh Chief registers and star registers of Power/ Energy Departments of countries and UTs and CMDs MDs of power sector CPSUs then.
Matter of adding Overdues
“The matter of adding overdues of power generation enterprises (gencos) was also meditated and it was advised that distribution companies (discoms) must incontinently take over loss reduction measures through proper metering, billing and energy account. ”Proper account of subventions being blazoned by separate state governments and payment to discoms also need to be assured.
It was reiterated that bettered fiscal sustainability of the discoms won’t only attract investments in the power sector as a whole but will also profit the consumers through reduced cost of electricity and bettered consumer services,” it stated.
What The Minister Said
Singh stated that the vacuity of power is abecedarian to the Indian frugality and ideal is to give world- class services and installations for the citizens of this country. The minister also emphasized upon energy transition towards further green energy to guard the terrain for the coming generations while taking forward development of the sector.
The multifarious benefits of PM- KUSUM scheme primarily in the form of fresh income and cheaper electricity for growers were emphasized. State governments will profit through reduced subvention burden. This will also profit the terrain as well in the form of clean and green energy generation, he stressed. The state-wise status of perpetration and issues being faced were meditated in detail during the meeting.
Minister of State for Power Krishan Pal Gurjar appreciated the sweats and cooperation by countries in achieving 100 per cent electrification under Saubhagaya scheme. Reviewing the status of Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme, he said discoms are the nodal point for the consumers in power value chain and hence their performance is crucial.
Recent Moves
Renewed focus was laid on renewable energy for icing vacuity of sufficient electricity force in an terrain-friendly manner. Further, it was stressed that for furnishing 24 × 7 continued power force to consumers; an operationally effective and financially feasible electricity distribution sector is necessary.
In order to achieve this ideal, the Centre has lately launched the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme having total disbursement of Rs 3 lakh crore. The scheme aims at reducing the AT&C (aggregate specialized and marketable) losses to 12- 15 per cent and barring ACS- ARR (factual cost of force-average profit realised) gap at visage India position by 2024- 25. The expression of plans by different countries was reviewed. All countries and discoms are progressing well in medication of action plans and DPRs (detailed design reports) as per the scheme guidelines.
