The Lok Sabha on July 27, 2022 passed the National Anti-Doping Bill that seeks to prohibits athletes, support manpower and other people from engaging in doping in sport. The bill was passed by a voice note. Union Sports Minister
Union sports minister Anurag Thakur said in the house that
Now India will be among the countless countries that have anti-doping laws and will also have testing labs. There will be lesser dependence on other countries for transferring samples of players. This bill will give strength to tone- reliant India.”
He said that the bill aims at strengthening anti-doping conditioning in sports and offer a statutory frame for the functioning of the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). The bill also proposes levying warrants for anti-doping rule violations and relinquishment of correctional procedures.

Prohibition of Doping
The anti-doping bill 2021 prohibits athletes, support labour force and other persons from engaging in doping in sport.
The support labour force includes trainers, directors, coaches, platoon staff, medical labour force and other people working with or treating the athlete.
These people must in sure that there’s no violation of the following rules
- i) presence of banned substances or their labels in an athlete’s body
- ii) use, tried use or possession of banned substances or styles.
iii) refusing to submit a sample
iv) trafficking or tried trafficking in banned substances or styles
v) abetting or covering up similar violations.
Remedial use impunity
still, they may apply to the National Anti-Doping Agency, If any athlete requires a banned substance or system for remedial use impunity due to a particular medical condition.
Anti Doping Rule Violations
The anti-doping rule violation by an individual athlete or support staff may affect in-
- i) disqualification of results including penalty of orders, points, and prizes
- ii) ineligibility to share in a competition or event for a prescribed period
iii) fiscal warrants
The consequences for a violation will be determined after a hail by the National Anti-Doping correctional Panel.
Constitution of NADA as Statutory Body
- The anti-doping bill 2022 seeks to constitute the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) as a statutory body headed by a Director General appointed by the centre.
- The functions of the agency will include planning, perpetration and monitoring of anti-doping conditioning, probing anti-doping rule violations and promoting anti-doping exploration.
- The agency will have the power to collect particular data of athletes including coitus or gender, medical history and his or her whereabouts.
- The agency will also be needed to define procedure for collection, operation, processing, and exposure of the particular data.
- It’ll intimately expose certain information of the athlete who has violated the anti-doping rules similar as name and the anti-doping rule violated along with the consequences.
